Weekly Wrap November 7th 2023

Many more magnificent performances came out of weekend 2 of the AV All Schools State Championships, with additional medals added to the collections, tickets punched to All Schools Nationals in Perth in December and numerous PB’s recorded.

Congratulations to all athletes that proudly represented their respective schools and in turn, added to the wonderful reputation of Athletics Essendon – we applaud and support you, particularly as this is an early-season event when not everyone is peaking or where they may want to be for the season, so well done for showing up and giving your all!!

Our AVSL Team Managers are working on gathering some interested athletes to compete at the State Relay Championships on Saturday, 25 November at Doncaster.

We would love to see as many of you as possible competing on this fun day where your normally individual sport will become a team event and you never know, you may make some new friendshipsand take home a state medal to boot!! Go outside your comfort zone and put your hand up for those longer distances if there’s a vacancy on a team because you may just surprise yourself.

Please get in touch with your team manager in the next week as entries close on 20 November.

Go Athletics Essendon!!

Looming loud and proud is our Essendon Gift – this Saturday, 11 November from 3 pm onwards!!

Thanks to Dom Condello for doing the bulk of the work on this incredible event. Would you believe there are 570 athletes entered for what is going to be a ripper night – bar and BBQ operating all night, racing until 9.45 pm, beautiful sashes and big prize money to be won?

We would love some happy snaps in front of the ‘Gift Wings’ with the hashtag #ESSENDONGIFT23 across all your social media posts!!

The event will be live streamed on My Sport Live and any help with set up from midday on 11/11 would be greatly appreciated – you’ll bags a snag and a cool beverage for your efforts 🙂

Please come along and support this exciting annual club event!!
