BILL BURKE FUND

The club has established the Bill Burke Fund in memory of the club’s longest serving coach with the aim of raising funds to assist junior and disadvantaged athletes. Bill Burke passed away in 2006 after coaching and inspiring thousands of teenagers throughout more than 60 years as Essendon’s head coach. Shortly before his death at the age of 98, Bill made a significant donation to the club to initially establish the Bill Burke Fund.

The club would like to continue Bill’s legacy in providing assistance for junior and disadvantaged athletes in the areas of coaching, interstate travel, registration fees, uniforms and equipment. Support will be given primarily to promising young athletes and those from disadvantaged backgrounds.

DONATE TO THE FUND

In order to keep the fund going and continue supporting our athletes we rely on donations from members and the general public.

Donations can be made via the Australian Sports Foundation website. The Australian Sports Foundation (ASF) is the only deductible gift recipient for sport in Australia. This means that donations of $2 or more to approved projects on our website are tax deductible.

Please contact secretary@athleticsessendon.org.au if you have any questions.
