2022 Australian Cross Country Championships

Whilst the majority of us were sleeping in after the festivities of the 125th Anniversary Dinner, ten of our athletes were competing at the Australian Cross Country Championships in South Australia.

The muddy Oakbank course set a challenging task for our athletes, who took on the challenge and tackled the course head on, coming away with rewarding results.

Liam Adams (Ken Hall) and Charlotte Wilson both faced strong competition in the Open categories. Adams navigated the 10km course in 32:40, narrowly finishing in fourth place whilst Wilson finished eighth in 39:06.

Archie Noakes (Charlotte Wilson) made his return to domestic competition having only recently returned from the World Athletics U20 Championships. He continued his fine form completing his 8km course in 26:40 to come home with a bronze medal.

Lara Sacaner and Emily Mifsud (both Gregor Gogjrzewski) navigated their way through tough competition in their respective U17’s 4km courses. Sacaner finished 20th with a time of 16:07, whilst Mifsud finished in 17:34 to place a 43rd.

Charles Barrett (Charlotte Wilson) and Jonathan Neethling (Mark Carey) also took on the challenge of the 4km course. Barrett finished his course in 14:05 to come 14th in the U16 category, whilst Neethling finishing in 14:17 to secure seventh place for the U15s.

Madigan Carroll and Jude Barrett (both Charlotte Wilson) ran strong races in the U14 categories. Carroll secured sixth place after completing the 3km course in 11:18, whilst Barrett finished 58th in the men’s race after completing the course in 11:10. Molly Bremner faced strong competition in the U12 category and placed 19th after a strong race of 12:22.

We’d like to thank Ryk Neethling (@take.my.snap) for taking photos of the event. The album can be found on our Facebook page.

Congratulations to all our athletes and their coaches on their excellent results.
