Weekly Wrap February 8th 2024

Round 11 – Let’s go Team Essendon!!!

Best of luck to all our athletes competing this weekend across all of our AVSL venues.  Second last round of the summer season & hopefully with some consistent performances across all age groups & maybe a few more sneaky PB’s, NQ’s & records, we can push ourselves a bit closer to second place on the Premier Division ladder as there is no Play Offs this year as in previous seasons.

Let’s make this POWERPLAY count!!

We are seeking your feedback, ideas & assistance on how to make our Club even better.  Please take 10 mins to complete this questionnaire HERE to help us shape the club’s future.

Your replies will help us to mould a vision for our Club’s future as well as our sport moving forward.

Athletics Essendon is looking for a number of responsible, generous & motivated people to look after our competition equipment.

For the last 50 years, our Club legend, Arthur Whitchell (OAM) has done ALL these jobs on his own!  It’s now time to share the load in the hope of attracting the right people for the job/s.  Most of the tasks only require attendance between October to February.  The jobs include:

  • Hammers – paint before competition & repairs where necessary
  • Shot Put – maintain paint
  • Hurdles – replace batons when required & ensure adequate supply of same
  • Discus – maintenance of good order
  • Steeple – two persons required to maintain/paint them, ensure they remain adjustable, move them on & off the infield during AVSL season
  • Two dedicated people that have a dash of leadership ability, to supervise set up & pack up when AVSL is on at Aberfeldie approx. four times per season
  • Other small jobs as they arise.

If any of these pique your interest, please contact John Cooper on 0414 373 157 for more info. Thanks in advance 🙂

Jonty Neethling (M16) continues his superlative season with an Essendon record broken at National All Schools on 8/12/24 in the 2k steeple with a blistering 5:56.61.
