Weekly Wrap February 29th 2024

Now let’s rave about the success of our athletes competing at Lakeside February 23-25 for the first weekend of State T&F Champs!! The weather was perfect for athletics with warm temperatures (except on the chilly Friday evening comp!), however the wind was a bit unpredictable & changeable which is typical of Lakeside Stadium!  We had approximately 83 athletes competing across the three days in every event on offer & 34 medals were awarded to AE athletes across all age groups.  We would like to congratulate all our medal recipients & acknowledge the below results 🙂

Melissa Foster does it again!!  Another comp, another World Record!!  Melissa is our dual state resident & champion AE athlete & has smashed a couple of World Records this season so it’s no surprise that she continued this form in her home state of Western Australia last weekend at their State T&F Champs.  She achieved a bronze medal in the open long jump with an all-time best jump of 5.71m which looks to be another W45 World Record!  She also took out the silver medal in the triple jump!  Stunning performances Mel, we are very proud of you!!

We had two athletes invited to attend this meet with the following results –

  • FOP – Olivia Evagelistis – 2.20m
  • MOP – Maddox Wilson – 2.70m

Well done!!
