AVSL 2020 /2021 Round 9 Stop Press!!

AV look like announcing that the Power Plays from Round 9 will now go to Round 10 due to the shortened programs! Get ready to do it all again at Doncaster. It now means three of the top 5 sides will all be going for double points.

A rain shortened round saw ESS take another win for an (almost) unassailable lead in Premier division, with Doncaster almost certain to take 2nd spot when they use their Power Play next week, just 7 points behind us.

The race is on for the third spot between Glenhuntly (62 points), Diamond Valley (58) and Box Hill (54).

A BIG thank you to those members who helped out at Aberfeldie and to those who had registered to help at either the discus or long jump – Emily Spiteri, Lisa Guglielmino, Kath Butler, Max Warlow, Ian Newey, Rae Andrews, Walid Hijazi, Luke Robertson along with a dozen of our 40 + athletes.

MVA

Arden Stevens (1415 points) Jack Walsh (1151) and Melissa Foster (921) were our three highest scorers on the day.

We were missing quite a few of our junior athletes to Little As championships. Some great results for them.

Some Highlights

Joanna Margiolis back to her multi event best, Montana Djatschenko long jump 5.81m, Victoria Entwistle-Hardeman at Aberfeldie discus 31.07m, Aiden Roberts (3:51.6) and Archie Noakes (3:55) battle out the 1500m in the rain.

We finally got to use our new steeple hurdles.

If you get a DNF next to your result it means you are considered to have competed in the event and as such have a “ranking” for Play Off eligibility.

Finally a very Happy Birthday to club legend Arthur Whitchell (91 years young) on Tuesday.
