All Schools Week 2

It was again wet at Doncaster for the 2nd week of the AV All Schools Track and Field Championship. Thanks to our parents and friends who put their hands up to be AV Helpers. Mark Sims, Tom Yeagher, Arthur Whitchell, Duncan Knox and Christian Knox. Without AV officials and club helpers, we don’t get to do our thing, so consider doing your bit one day this season.

Montana Djatschenko won the U20W long jump with 5.38m and backed up with 2nd in her 200 in 26.78s. Emily Portaro in the last event of the competition jumped 5.53m to take out 3rd in the U17 women long jump. Katie Baynes jumped 4.96m for a terrific PB. Hazel Lockwood (U14W) jumped 4.64m as well as running 28.97s in her 200m, Thomas Sims (U14M) jumped 4.52m , U16 women Kaylee Mangion jumped 4.52m and Ellie Kewish finished with 4.46m

Another strong performance in throwing this weekend. Sam Conti (U17M) made his first state team with 3rd in Javelin with 41.67m. Kevin Healy threw a 70cm PB of 14.88m to win the U15M shot put then followed it up with a win in hammer on Sunday with a new u15/16 club record of 63.37m. This is the 3rd competition in a row that he has broken this record. Thomas Sims (U14M) in his fourth and 5th events of the competition threw 9.86m in the shot put and 30.06m in Javelin.

Turning to the track, Bianca Puglisi ran 10:55.72 to finish 3rd in the U18W 3000M. Archie Noakes U16M finished off a great meet with 9:09.68 to finish 5th over the same distance. Bashir Abinoor U20M just missed out on bronze to record 16:09.53 in the 5000m.

There were some great performances in the 800 as well. Joshua Tracy recorded 2:01.88 to be less than a second outside the club record to finish 3rd . This shows how tough the competition is and has led to some massive PB’s. Dylan Rowbottom (U14M) ran a 10 second PB to finish with 2:18.56 and just missed the final. Jannik Ernst (U16M) ran 2:06.68 (3 second PB) whilst Emily Mifsud recorded a 5 second PB to finish with 2.33.84. Aimee Jungfer U18W just missed out on a medal running a PB 2:21.96. Audrey Savage (U16W) recorded 2:30.18 while Jack Tat ran 2:13.90 in the U17 men’s race.

Lastly, Under 16 women sprinters, Ellie Kewish ran 28.24s and Kaylee Mangion ran 29.40s for their 200m events

Overall club members won 7 medals in week 2 (shown in italics below) and over the 2 weekends only 6 of the 25 medals were on the track.
