Round 6 XCR ’19

A big thank you to our 3 Helpers who got out early in the cold to support our runners at Albert Park. Robyn Coyne and Maz Strong have volunteered many times in the last 12 months and along with Rebecca Roberts from the Red & Black group, helped AV put on the event. We don’t need Helpers again until the Tan Relays (Sept 21), so if you haven’t volunteered, we need YOU and 3 mates to fulfill our club’s commitment

Lots of good runs and PBs at Albert Park. Charlotte Jackson (11:57) shaved 43 sec off her 3Km best to come 12th in the U 14 girls event.

Aidan Roberts was again impressive, to come 4th in the U18 10Km with a PB of 33:32, Bianca Puglisi grabbed 3rd spot with a quick 10:16 in her U18 3Km.

Emily Mizis (7th, 41:16) and Max Taylor (21st,36:58) also produced PBs in their U 20 races.

Our girls again lead the way in the Open division, with Charlotte Wilson taking 3rd spot with a slick time of 34:17, while Fasika Metafriya (36:27) finished 16th. Emilie Guy (36:29) was just behind in 17th spot.

Others with PBs were Lauren Connell (37:48), Emelia Eagling Every (38:38) and newcomer Sam Gates (39:42). Karajeet Singh (37:12) also recorded his best 10k time in the open men’s race.

Liam Adams wore a beany and gloves against the cold and came in 3rd…a great effort just a week after his Gold Coast Marathon!

Many of the crew enjoyed breakfast at the Boathouse Cafe after the event.

The club congratulates Makda Haj Harun on her selection for the Big V team at the Australian Half Marathon champs to be held on the Sunshine Coast, Qld on Aug 4.
