XCR 21 Lardner Park

The first of the individual XCR events was held in near perfect conditions at the Lardner Park venue. The course varied from flat to undulating with many rough sections, plus a few ditches and fences to navigate.

Twelve Essendon runners made their way down the highway to tackle the course over 2, 3, 4 or 8Km.

Liam Adams was again our best performer, coming in 11th place in the 8k out of a good sized field of 335. Forty five year old Damien Bruneau was 50th, new member, Ryan Rodriguez 191st, Aaron Heany 281st and Steve Murphy bringing the field home in 334th place.

Anthony Oliver showed promise finishing 11th in the M16 3K race, while two new members had their first run in club colours over the 2km course. Jake Smith finished in 6th spot just in front of Aiden Davis in 7th.

Rounding out our dozen runners was veteran Brian Anderson, taking advantage of the new Master’s rule, completing the 4K in 2nd place in a more than respectable time.
