Congratulations to Linden Hall (1500m) and Liam Adams (Marathon) for their official selection for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games Athletics Team. Tokyo will be the second games for both athletes and their selection is a great testament to their determination after the games were postponed last year.

These selections keep the streak alive for Athletics Essendon with this being the 16th consecutive games we have had athletes represented.

Unfortunately three superstars just missed out. Jack Hale, Jacob Despard and Chris Mitrevski just missed qualifying for the team over the last few weeks. The qualifying standards for these games are the toughest we’ve ever seen. They’ve all had super seasons recently and we’re so proud of all their achievements.

Paralympics 2020

Maria Strong, 50, has achieved three ‘A’ qualifiers in the F33 shot put and expects to be formally selected for the paralympic team after the close of the qualifying period on July 11.
