Elite Athletics Essendon athlete Maria “Maz” Strong has been announced as one of the finalists for the 2018 Victorian Disability Sport and Recreation Awards.
The awards, which will be held at an invitation-only ceremony on August 1 at Southbank, will feature our best sportsman and women across the state, and Maz’s achievements hold her in very esteemed company within the Australian athletics realm, and the sporting realm as a whole.
Maz, who won a gold medal at the 2018 Australian athletics championships, will represent the sport of track and field at this prestigious awards ceremony, which will be broadcast live at www.dsr.org.au/awards
It has been a fantastic year for Maz, who, along with winning a national title gold, was the recipient of the Athletics Essendon Arthur Whitchell award for the club person of the year, recognising her tireless work at the club throughout the years.
