Louise Mendes to represent Australia in Finland.

It has been a goal for Louise Mendes to represent Australia and her
community in Athletics, and she will get her opportunity at the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships in Tampere, Finland (10th-15th July 2018).

Louise auto-qualified for the World Under 20 Women Hammer event having achieved World Junior Qualifiers leading into and by winning the 2018 Australian Junior Championships in the Women U20 Hammer. At the recent AA WU20 Pre-departure Team camp in Townville, Louise set new ATE Records in the Women U20 and Open Hammer at 58.16m.

Louise departs for Europe on the 20th June with scheduled competitions at Mannheim U20 Gala in German and Finnish Athletics Carnivals prior to the 2018 IAAF World U20 Championships.

The lead up months have been busy for Louise with Technical Training and Gym sessions, University studies and sitting exams, to travel and achieving AA pre-departure competitions and standards.

Louise sees these International Championships as a fantastic experience in her progression to senior level, and thanks Athletics Essendon and fellow athletes/friends for their ongoing support and well wishes.
