Athletics Essendon stars Louise Mendez and Amelia Mazza-Downie are ready to launch their campaign at the 2018 World U20 Track and Field championships, in Tampere, Finland.

The championships, which commence on the 10th of July, will showcase the best under 20 athletes from around the globe.

Amelia will race in the 3000 metres final on the evening of day 2 of the championships, and Louise competes in the qualifying round of the Women’s Hammer on the 12th July, day 3.

After a successful pre departure camp in Townsville, where Louise set new Athletics Essendon records in the Women’s U20 and Open hammer throw, the team travelled to Finland to acclimatise before the start of competition, and Amelia recently set a new pub in the 1500 metres. Both are in great form.

Athletics Australia have produced some fantastic event and athlete previews for Tampere, featuring both Louise and Amelia.
