Footy finals
Former Essendon athletes have been around in the footy finals.
Mark Blicavs is now a regular with Geelong and played in two finals.
Boundary umpiring has been an area of strength in recent times for Athletics Essendon. In only his third year as an AFL boundary umpire, former Athletics Essendon athlete Matt Tomkins has been selected to officiate in the 2014 AFL Grand Final. Michael Marantelli officiated in the Grand Final last year, while Brendan Elvey was one of the four boundary umpires in the 2014 VFL Grand Final.
Records for running around the Tan
At the recent Tan Relays our athletes would have seen the “record pole.” Fastest ever woman is Essendon’s Sarah Jamieson (photo) and 8th ever is Essendon’s Ann Cross.
