Mark Carey

About:

Mark Carey also works as a contractor for Athletics Australia in the IAAF sporting schools programs. He is also in charge of 800 meters runners for Little Athletics Victoria, coaching the Junior Development Squad.

Mark’s coaching philosophy is based on being professional, honest and positive with his athletes, as well as providing a happy, safe and motivating environment. Mark’s role as a coach is to promote the great sport of athletics not only from the health and fitness aspect but also the role it plays in the development of a person’s character.

Mark trained under the great Franz Stampfl who coached Roger Bannister, the first man to break Four Minutes for the mile and Ralph Doubell the last Australian Male Olympic track champion.

Mark is at the track every Monday and some Wednesdays with his Essendon squad. He also trains from Gisborne on other days. He sets detailed weekly programs for all his athletes because no two athletes are the same.

Distance coaching; this is also a Level 4 Athletics Australia Accreditation.
