AVSL 2022/23: Round 4 Wrap

It was a big weekend for Athletics Essendon with both the Essendon Gift and Round 4 of AVSL taking place. Now we are into the fourth round we have many athletes who have now completed the required minumum 3 rounds of competition and are therefore qualified to compete in Playoffs. Well done to all of you for qualifying so early. It was fantastic to see some of our athletes return including Mel Forster, Aaron Downes, Adrian Fitzgerald, Nina Lawson, Montana Djatschenko and Zara Keca.

Ela Uzun continued her impressive start to the season with another set of records, this time in the 2000m walk, breaking the U13-U17 records with a time of 9:34.5.

This week Athletics Essendon clinched the third spot scoring 35, 395. The top two spots were secured by Eaglehawk and Diamond Valley with both these clubs using their Powerplay (doubles their points scored).

Congratulations to Sukhnoor Rangi, Amelia Ashton and Kim Walsh on being listed in the top 10 Most Valuable Athletes for Zone A.

Thanks to Spase Veljanovski and Sarah Mullens for assisting with duties at Geelong.

Of course, a big thank you to the Athletics Victoria officials for their efforts throughout the day and our club coaches for supporting our athletes.
