AVSL 2020/21 Round 4

Seventy six athletes helped Essendon to another big win in Premier division. They scored over 49,000 points to beat Doncaster by 17,000 with Box Hill in third place. The ladder is now taking shape with ESS clear leaders on 40 points; Glenhuntly (28), Doncaster (27) and Box Hill (27) rounding out the top 4, with only the top 3 playing off for the premiership in March.

Thanks again to our volunteers who helped run the comp. Parents, Anna Neethling, Donna Asllanaj, Louise Steward, Kelleigh Evans, Chris Jackson and Stephen Haggai along with club members Andre Botoulas, Mark Giglio, Kris Lakusa, Karl Orr, Anna Kasapis, Joanna Margiolis and Matt Goodger.

Thanks to David Jones who volunteered to act as Safety Officer on the day. He was at the track at 7am and was still there at the end of competition.

ESS won all but 2 Yellow Zones as well as topping the state table in F14, M18, F40 and M40.

MVP:

Melissa Foster was our top athlete with 1312 points. Mel finished 3rd in Premier division and 6th in the state.

Kevin Healy broke his own U/17 club shot put record with 13.90m, an improvement of 33 cm over his record from round 2.

Linda Caligiuri broke the F55 state 100m record with 14.04s

In the triple jump pit- Ayo Ore top scored with 15.32m (512 points). Angus Wood 14.45 (500), Arden Stevens 12.22m (508), Liam Glew 13.29 (471), Cooper Cavallo 12.69 (445), Zoe Edwards 11.90 (488), Mel Foster 11.37 (478), Katie Baynes 10.95 (495) and Tesia Haggai 10.92 (493).

SHOT PUT:

Some big scores in the shot put ring this week with Maria Strong (F33) 6.29m (558 points), Kevin Healy 13.90 (507), Victoria Entwistle-Hardeman 10.39 (420), Nicola Steele10.08 (474), Imogen Makin 10.02 (473), Chantelle Leslie-Hughes 9.03 (444) and Kim Walsh 7.77 (414).
