AV Shield 9

Round 9. Just 3 rounds to go!
Sorry – no photos this week – feel free to send them through…

Wins to most of our teams with only M14 and F16 teams coming in 2nd. This means all teams are sitting on Top or 2nd, with Team Managers starting to look at their Shield Final teams.

The MOpen team is in a tight 3 way battle with Melb Uni and Western Aths. If they continue to perform as they did on Sat, they should get through to the Final. An injection of three 40+ athletes and a total of 22 competitors in Round 9, saw them score over 10,000 points!!

The M16 team is also in a tight 3 way battle with KSB and Western Aths. The boys are currently on top with 85 points from KSB (83) and Western (82). They’ll need to be at their best over the next 3 weeks to keep a top 2 position.

All our women’s teams are sitting comfortably in first or 2nd spot, after a round of excellent performances.

Ellen Petitt’s 13.20m triple jump (533points), Maddi Alexander’s 1.70m high jump (500 points), Montana Djatschenko (200m & triple), Louise Mendes (37.84m discus and 28.91m javelin) were just some of the highlights.

The F16s also welcomed new member Charly Rouch who ran a strong 100m.

Joanne Margiolis again worked hard all day to accumulate points over multiple events, including debuting in the steeple chase, in prep for the Final.

Three good runs in the 800m from Maddi Caulfield (2:19.4), Lauren Connell (2:1.5) and Bianca Puglisi (2:22.6).

Among the men’s teams we saw a number of 500+ performances. Alwyn Jones (15.99m triple 542 pts), Ayo Ore (15.65m triple, 533 pts), Graham Hicks (M40 discus 44.11m, 512 pts) and Dylan Jones (41.05m discus, 503 pts).

There were many performances which earned over 400 points, showing the strength of our club! Earning 400 + points is an indicator of a top class performance!

This week at Doncaster you get a chance to run/ jump/ throw a Final qualifier, so be there! Your Team Managers may also ask you to do events out of your comfort zone.
