Amelia Mazza-Downie ran the race of her life so far, and stormed home for 6th place, and a huge pb in the U20 world athletics championships women’s 3000 metre final overnight.
In a 19 strong field, Amelia moved steadily through the pack, and remained patient thoughout the race, in order to kick home in the final straight, and record a massive 17 second pb and run 9:09.19.
The eventual winner was the Japanese athlete, Nozomi Tanaka, in 8:54.02, with the two Ethiopian athletes making up the minor placings.
