ATHS ESSENDON PRESENTATION DAY, MAY 18th
We would love as many of you as possible to come along to AE’s end of season break-up which will be taking place at Aberfeldie on Sunday May 18, 12-3pm. This year there will be no payment required & WE ARE PROVIDING A FREE BBQ with drinks available for a gold coin donation. Some members will receive emails soon inviting them to attend to collect their awards on the day so we hope heaps of you come along and celebrate the successes of our athletes across the 24/25 T&F season. Can’t wait to see you all there :).
NATIONALS IN PERTH
Many of our members who qualified for Nationals made the journey over to the West for the Australian T&F Championships, April 4-8 (U13-18) & April 10-13 (U20-Open) with para events across both dates also. Aside from some drizzle on the first day of competition, the weather didn’t disappoint & it made for some fast times, season’s & personal bests & even a sneaky Club & Championship record! I don’t think anyone in the stadium will forget some of the incredible performances from the likes of Gout Gout, Leah O’Brien, Peter Bol, Nicola Olyslagers, Emilia Reed & the list goes on!! Moments in history that you will remember for a long time.
Every athlete goes to Nationals with a goal in mind & sometimes that is already achieved by just qualifying & making it to Nationals, while for others the goal may be to make a final, finish in the top 10 or take home a medal. So no matter what your result, know that we are very impressed & proud of each & every one of you & hope that it was the finish to your season that you & your support team hoped for 😊. We had a stack of podium finishes & some very close 4th placings too so CONGRATULATIONS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR FINE EFFORTS!!

ANNUAL BILL BURKE CLASSIC, APRIL 12th
TWO NEW RECORDS – BREMNER & UZUN
On 27/03/25 at the Box Hill Classic, Molly Bremner (F16) ran an impeccable 3000m & clocked a ridiculously quick 10:18.21 to PB & break the AE U15 record by just over 4 seconds (previously 10:22.57, set by her!). Well done Molly & congratulations on a very successful 24/25 season.
Ela Uzun also continues to set the track on fire & smash AE’s walk records, currently holding every female walk record from 1.5 to 5km for every age group up to Open! She didn’t miss a beat in Perth last week either, breaking her own record by a mighty 15 seconds, to cross the line in 13:21.24. Not only was this a PB & Club Record but she also set a new Championship Record! Huge kudos to you Ela
