ATHLETICS ESSENDON PRESENTATION DAY & END OF SUMMER SEASON BREAK-UP, SUNDAY MAY 18 AT ABERFELDIE
LOCK IN THE DATE! Our end of season break-up will be taking place at Aberfeldie on Sunday May 18 at 12-3pm. Come along and celebrate the successes of our athletes across the 24/25 T&F season 😊 There will be food trucks, lots of fun games & of course, a great chance to catch up with all the great members of our Club. Can’t wait to see you all there 🙂
(VICE) PRESIDENT’S REPORT
What a fantastic AVSL season we have had! Athletics Essendon finished third on the Division 1 Premiership ladder with numerous records broken, both at a Club & State level. We welcomed many new members over the course of the season & saw really high participation numbers across all rounds of AVSL, States & specialist meets. We are definitely heading in the right direction as a Club & we now have the biggest membership of any AV club.
Our Club coaches have worked tirelessly with many of our members to achieve incredible results across all track & field events. We have welcomed some new coaches to our AE line-up too – Matt Hall (throws), Anna Bush (multis), Mark Donahoo (walks) & Adam Larcom ‘officially’ joining us, specialising in sprints. We also thank our stalwart coaches for their loyalty, support & assistance & flow of ideas over the course of the season.
We have introduced a new volunteer policy to hopefully assist with the signing up of helpers across the AVSL & XCR season & think that it will incentivise members & make it less of an arduous task with the offer of a financial benefit to sweeten the deal! This is a policy already utilised by many clubs across the state & we are looking forward to all our membership embracing it & appreciating the reasons behind it. You could even pay off your annual membership fees!
All the very best to those making the trip to Perth for Nationals & congratulations to those U13-U18 athletes that have already competed – I hope your campaign was successful & applaud all those that are bringing home medals, PB’s & learning experiences. No doubt many will be going into a rest period post-Nationals so we wish you all an enjoyable few weeks before the winter training block kicks off & the XCR season starts in May. Stay healthy & safe & I look forward to seeing many of you at the May break-up on the 18th 😊

Box Hill Burn was the last middle-distance hit out for athletes prior to Perth & many of our athletes put the icing on the cake for their Nationals campaign. The PB’s were actually massive for some of these – with 10 seconds or more off their previous PB’s! Perfect timing.
