AVSL ROUND 8 ROUNDUP!

With only two rounds of AVSL to go, Essendon is sitting pretty in 3RD POSITION OVERALL which is a credit to you all that get out every round & have a red, hot go!  Of course, we can always do better but we realise that between injuries, other commitments, training loads/schedules & just ‘life’, it is not always possible or feasible to compete in every round of the season or compete in the maximum point-scoring number of events (3)!  Regardless, keep up the amazing work AE athletes & let’s end season 24/25 with as many points as possible!! (REMINDER – we are activating our PowerPlay on Feb 8, the last round of the season, so we’d love it if you could register for 3 events as entries don’t close til midday next Wednesday, 5/2/25).

Standout performances –

  • Power duo, Ella Leith & Armani Mauriohooho, both F16, finished 6th & 7th, respectively, on the MVA ladder with 1287 & 1273 points.  After 8 rounds, Ella is 5th overall & Armani is 11th overall MVA!!Wowsers…. keep up the amazing work girls (States & Nationals are looking very ‘golden’!)
  • AVSL Club Shield Ladders & three members finished on top for their event across all clubs & divisions – congratulations to the speedy, Zara Smith, F14 with a magnificent 2:16.74 in the 800m earning a mega 491 points!  Mel Foster, F45, also decided to go out with a bang, leaping an almighty 11.47m in the Triple Jump, for a gigantic 473 points (Mel & her partner, Mark Harper, have actually moved to WA to live & no longer compete for AE 🙁  Lastly, distance & speed are in the Noakes genes, with Cameron Noakes, M55, racing over the line in the 5000m, in a very quick time of 19:38.7, for 302 points!!  Well done to you all!! 😊

** NEXT MILERS MEET #4 IS AT ABERFELDIE ON THURSDAY FEBRUARY 6th – entries close next Monday February 3 at midday ** Enter Here!

The track at the AIS is considered to be one of the fastest in the country so it’s not surprising that a handful of AE athletes, their squads & coaches, made the trek up to Canberra for the ACT Champs on the Australia Day long weekend.  There were quite a few PB’s so congratulations to all those that competed, brought home some silverware & obtained NQ’s!!
