Well done to every one of you, whether you raced in one round, five or all ten!  Your performances contributed to AE’s overall ladder standings, helped to make it a fun & successful season & you all no doubt built some great friendships.  It’s now time for the summer season of racing – good luck to all athletes, you’ve done the hard winter training now so it’s onto warmer training sessions & longer days 🙂

Please join us on Tuesday, 1 October after training for a BBQ dinner to celebrate the launch of the summer season! This will be a casual, fun event to socialise with fellow members, squads and friends alike!

Please RSVP to secretary@athleticsessendon.org.au

Yay, the summer track & field season kicks off next Saturday with AE hosting the first round at MVAC! Entries opened last Wednesday & close at midday on Wed 2/10 so if you haven’t already entered, get on it, especially as the field events usually fill up on the day entries open however track events pretty much have unlimited places.  If you need any help with this process, please contact your relevant team manager or email secretary@athleticsessendon.org.au & Rebecca will step you through the process.

Make sure you have your AE uniform ready to go with your AV body numbers attached correctly.  If you require any items of uniform, Tuesday night’s pre-season BBQ at the clubrooms is an ideal opportunity to try on & purchase merchandise.

As always, we need helpers for set-up, pack-up & for one-hour times slots across the day so please log in to your Helper App on your membership portal & find a time that works in with your schedule of events.  REMEMBER – many hands make light work & every registered athlete is required to volunteer across the season, either in person or compliments of a parent or friend who can do a duty for them.  Please don’t leave it to the same few who constantly put their time & efforts in…

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE FOR THE UPCOMING OPENING ROUND & WE LOOK FORWARD TO SHARING YOUR RESULTS IN THE NEXT NEWSLETTER!  GO ATHS ESSENDON!

CONGRATS TO BIANCA & TY!!

On Sunday 15/9, Bianca Puglisi competed in the 12km City to Bay which is also the National Road Racing Championships & finished 8th!!Coach, Frances Lipscombe described it as a very deep field with the top three placegetters being Olympians – Izzy Batt-Doyle, Jess Stenson & Jen Gregson!  Even the quality & depth of the field behind them was impressive but so was Bianca’s PB OF 40:47!!  Wonderful result Bianca & Frances, congratulations!!

We have a National Silver Medal Triathlete in our midst, with OUR VERY OWN Ty Davis PLACING 2nd at the National Junior Triathlon Championships recently.  What a phenomenal result Ty, well done to you & your team!!

Ty Davis

Last week we were asked if any AE members wanted to participate in the Guard of Honour at the Essendon v Melbourne AFLW Community Round on 27/9 at Windy Hill & four lucky athletes stepped forward & accepted the wonderful offer! Well done to Lenny & Harriet Gray & Sam & Georgia Meehan – we hope you enjoyed being surrounded by these superstars!  Thankyou for representing AE so beautifully 🙂
