2023 Simplot Games

This weekend saw six Essendon athletes take on some of America’s best track & field athletes at the Simplot Games at Holt Arena at Idaho State University.

Since 2015 the Maribyrnong Sports Academy has selected eight athletes each season to compete at the Games and this year it was fantastic to see six of the eight be Athletics Essendon athletes. Congratulations to Lily-Bella Hilli, Mackenzie Leith, Arden Stevens, Khsuhnoor Rangi, Sukhnoor Rangi and Emily Mifsud on being selected. It was fantastic to also see club pole vault coach Bill Georgantas travel with the team.

With no indoor track venue in Australia, this event was an extremely unique opportunity with all athletes competing at their first indoor track meet and gave all athletes a valuable insight into the types of competitions outside of Australia. A big congratulations to all athletes on making the finals in their respective events. Big thanks to Susan Harris and Emily Lynn for providing updates throughout the meet.
