Athletics Essendon will have the privilege to host 400 metre Olympic Silver medallist Rick Mitchell on Monday evening the 22nd of October, for a talk and a Q and A session.

Rick’s athletic career spanned 3 Olympics and 2 Commonwealth Games. Rick won gold in the 1978 Edmonton Commonwealth Games 400 metres, silver in the 1980 Moscow Olympics 400 metres, and silver in the 1982 Brisbane Commonwealth Games 400 metres. Rick was also part of the Australian 4×400 metre relay teams that won bronze in Edmonton, silver in Brisbane, and were just edged out of the medals at the 1984 LA Olympics.

In 2012 Rick was inducted into the Australian Athletics Hall of Fame.

Rick’s rich athletics history and performance will be essential listening, and Athletics Essendon are honoured to be hosting one of Australia’s greatest Track and Field athletes.
